WelcomeWelcome to the home of Edinburgh Jitsu Club. For the last twelve years, EJC has been committed to the highest possible standards in martial arts instruction, both on and off the mat. If you have any questions that cannot be found on our web-pages then please email us.Ju Jitsu (Jiu Jitsu, Ju Jutsu), or 'pliant art', is an ancient Japanese martial art that uses strikes, joint locks and throws to provide an effective form of self-defence against both armed and unarmed attackers. Ju Jitsu does not rely on strength but directs the aggressor's force against themselves meaning it can be used by anyone regardless of height, weight or sex. See "What is Ju Jitsu?" for more details about the art. EJC is affiliated to the Shin Tai Wa Ryu school of Ju Jitsu ("Coordination of Body and Mind"). The teachings originate in Shorinji Kan Ju Jitsu ("Way of the Shaolin Temple") but have been updated to deal with the more likely forms of attack seen on the street today. This makes it immensely practical as a form of self-defence. Our style also retains many of the more traditional forms of the art, so you will be learning in a tradition that has been in existence for more than a thousand years. Training is tailored to your individual ability so you do not need a high standard of physical fitness, although you'll find that endurance,strength, flexibility and speed are all improved during training. | |
